A hunting transporter is a professional who provides the logistics, equipment, and support needed to make your hunt possible and enjoyable. While we do not guide you or tell you where to hunt (per Alaska law), we provide everything else you need for a successful week in Kodiak — including transportation, lodging, meals, and a safe, comfortable base camp aboard The Valiant.

Before your trip, please plan to arrange the following:
Transportation to Kodiak City by air
Current Alaska hunting license and proper deer/goat tags (ADF&G home page)
Firearm(s) of choice, appropriate for Kodiak hunting terrain
-
We recommend the following gear to make your hunt more successful and comfortable:
Breathable waders and quality hunting boots (Kodiak terrain is wet and rugged)
3-4 full changes of hunting clothes
Layers of hunting clothes with light, packable rain gear
Walking poles for steep terrain
A sharp hunting knife, game bags, or meat boxes (we cannot butcher your game for you, per state law)
Field pack, quality binoculars, plenty of ammunition, light twine, and gloves
Dramamine or other seasickness medication (just for transit days; we anchor in protected waters during the hunt)
A pair of INDOOR shoes to switch into for living quarters
Personal alcohol, if desired (please consume responsibly; excessive drinking is prohibited for safety reasons)
A light sleeping bag and pillow
Compact LED flashlight
-
We do have a walk-in freezer on vessel to help facilitate meat preparation.
We recommend making shipping arrangements in advance for both your harvested game and your hunting equipment. This may include:
Game meat processing and shipping services in Kodiak
Airlines that accept boxed or frozen game meat as baggage
Using durable, airline-approved meat boxes for transport
Chad and crew can advise on logistics, but shipping is ultimately the responsibility of each hunter.

Kodiak weather can be unpredictable, especially in late fall. Safety is our top priority:
Floatplane schedules and skiff launches may be adjusted for weather
